5th Annual Butterfly Festival!

Come down to City Park, Downtown Appleton on Saturday, June 15 from 9:00am-11:30am to become a sponsor of the 5th Annual Butterfly Festival. All proceeds will go to the Parent Connection program of Family Services which is a program designed to help reduce child abuse and neglect.


Parent Connection is a local program that provides family education and positive parenting techniques. The program is designed for first-time parents that are focused on child development, health issues, and family support.

This is an excellent opportunity for those parents who want to learn more on how to give their children the best possible life they can by getting proper family education and learning new parenting techniques.

The Butterfly Festival is an event for the whole family to enjoy! Come on down and learn about butterflies and participate in some of the activities that the festival has.

At the end of the event everyone who purchased a butterfly will receive their butterfly in a release box, and as a group the butterflies will be released.

Death by Chocolate

Looking for a sweet way to spend Valentine’s Day that is close to Latitude 44? Head to downtown Appleton for the 10th Annual Death by Chocolate Valentine’s Day event! For only $20 (or two for $35), you can enjoy chocolaty desserts and cocktails in 20 different restaurants, coffee houses and bars on College Avenue. The event is on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. The Downtown Cool Trolley will be running during the event, from 4:30-9:30 p.m. After testing all the scrumptious desserts, vote for your favorite between Feb. 14-19 and you could win a $25 Downtown Appleton Gift Certificate!

Nov. 17 – Dec. 24
Location: Macy’s Wing
Tell your kids to grab their Christmas list and head down to the Fox River Mall to visit Santa! Santa will be at there every day through Christmas Eve. Give your kids the chance to share their Christmas wishes with Santa and also have their picture taken with him. Children of all ages are invited to visit, including babies. Every Monday night through December 17, bring your furry friend (cats & dogs only) to the Fox River Mall for a photo with Santa. Appleton Christmas Parade

If you’re near Latitude 44 and are in the mood for some holiday festivities, head down to College Avenue where Appleton will be hosting its 41st Annual Christmas Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 6:20 p.m. The Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade is the largest nighttime Christmas parade in Wisconsin. Nearly 50,000 spectators head downtown for the event.

This year’s parade theme is “Lighting the Seasons,” and will feature 72 units, including floats, decorated vehicles, walkers and animal entries. There will be 17 marching bands from all over Northeastern Wisconsin performing in the parade as well.

Preceding the parade will be the annual Santa Scamper, a 1 mile run to benefit St. Joseph’s Food Program. The race begins at 6:00 and starts at the corner of State Street and College Avenue, and proceeds down College to Drew Street, finishing in Jones Park.

After the parade, there will be a Tree Lighting in the City Park. There will be a performance by the Fox Valleyaires, and then a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony led by the Parade Marshal, Mr. Perry Kidder.

If you can’t make it to the parade, you can watch the television broadcast, beginning at 7:00 that evening. Watch the event live on WFRV Channel 5.

Construction Update: First Tenants Moved In!

The first building in the Latitude 44 Townhouse Apartment Project is officially completed! All the tenants pulled into the Grand Opening celebration last Friday with packed cars and U-Hauls, and received the keys to their new homes. The first building houses four 2-bedroom units and two 3-bedroom units. One 2-bedroom unit is available to rent on January 1, 2013.

The second building is scheduled to be completed by January 1, 2013. That will have six 3-bedroom units, all of which are already leased out.

The third building is beginning to be framed. We expect construction to be completed in March. It will consist of eight 3-bedroom apartments. We still have 7 available units. If you’re interested, please stop in our office at 1500 W. College Avenue, Suite A, and fill out an application!

Downtown Appleton’s Soup Walk

Looking for something to do this weekend near Latitude 44? Downtown Appleton is hosting its 4th Annual Soup Walk on Saturday, October 20. Come taste some signature hearty soups at 17 different restaurants along College Avenue. The Downtown Cool Trolley will be running from noon to 4:00 p.m. You can either hop a ride on the trolley or walk from restaurant to restaurant. You also have the opportunity to donate canned goods to the St. Joseph Food Program and also have a chance to win some prizes by voting for your favorite soup.

Octoberfest in Downtown Appleton

Looking for something to do close to Latitude 44 this weekend? Head to downtown Appleton for Octoberfest!

Octoberfest weekend kicks off on Friday night with License to Cruise, a classic car show featuring 400 classic models, live music and great food. License to Cruise runs from 6:00-9:30 p.m. and will be featuring British Imports this year in front of City Center Plaza. Live entertainment will be provided by the Doo Wop Daddies who will be performing in Houdini Plaza from 6:00-9:30.

On Saturday, Appleton will be hosting its largest block party of the year. Running from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.,College Avenue will be lined with entertainment, arts and crafts areas, and food and drink booths.

Five stages, all devoted to different styles of music, will be boasting live music all day long. Major headliners include Greg Waters & The Broad Street Boogie, RPM, Nashville Pipeline, Half Empty, and Vic Ferrari.

Community First Fox Cities Marathon

This weekend, stop by and show your support at the Community First Fox Cities Marathon in Appleton. The weekend-long event is presented by Kimberly-Clark and has events scheduled for every one regardless of age or fitness condition.

On Friday, Sept. 21, the Guardian Kids Fun Run will take place just a few steps across the street from Latitude 44 atAppletonNorthHigh School. This event has everything from a Diaper Dash to a half-mile race for kids. Kids also have the opportunity to win up to $1,000 for their school by participating in these events.

Starting on Friday, you can also swing by Fox Valley Tech and visit the Humana Health & Wellness Expo. Check out the latest designs in running gear and shoes along with the latest developments in sports, fitness and nutrition from the many exhibitors. The expo will be open all weekend.

On Saturday, you can participate in the Affinity Medical Group Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine 5K Run/Walk. Sunday’s events include the Community First Fox Cities Marathon, the ThedaCare Orthopedics Plus Half Marathon, and the Orthopedic & Sports Institute Relay Marathon.

Appleton’s Summer Concert Series

Looking for some quality entertainment close to Latitude 44 this Thursday? Head over to Houdini Plaza in downtown Appleton for the city’s Summer Concert Series and enjoy live music with the community. Appleton welcomes Sly Joe & the Smooth Operators, The Lately, and Vic Ferrari as the last performers for the summer on Thursday, Aug. 30.

Stop at Houdini Plaza (on the corner of College Avenue and Appleton Street) during your lunch break for the Lunchtime Live Concert. This week, listen to the band Sly Joe & the Smooth Operators play from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On-site vendors are there to provide food and beverages, but you are also welcome to bring in your own food or stop at one of the many downtown restaurants for take-out.

The Heid Music Summer Concert Series is the nighttime entertainment. This week, it will begin with The Lately opening at 5:30. The local hit band Vic Ferrari will take the stage as the headliner and play until 8:30.

Located less than 15 minutes away from Latitude 44, Appleton’s Summer Concert Series is a great event for everyone! Whether you are down with the family or stopping with some friends, Houdini Plaza accommodates for everybody. Adult beverages, food and soda will be available from on-site vendors or from local bars and restaurants.
